چکیده
The fast development of computational facilities and new computational methodologies allows the efficient implementation of stochastic structural analysis. Thus, a quantification of the results of structural analyses in terms of probabilities is possible. The fast development of computational facilities (hardware) and new computational methodologies (software) open the door for efficient numerical procedures taking into account structural uncertainties and quantifying the results in terms of probabilities. Methods have to be embedded in respective software environments such that they are easily accessible for the engineering community. To apply these concepts in research as well as in industry, efficient programming, convenient user interaction, modular programming, comprehensive macro language, etc. are required. These topics are exemplified by describing a concept denoted as COSSAN (Computational Stochastic Structural Analysis)[6].

Chair of Engineering Mechanics Ifm-publication 2-434 Efficient Monte Carlo Simulation Procedures in Structural Uncertainty and Reliability Analysis -recent Advances
The present contribution addresses uncertainty quantification and uncertainty propagation in structural mechanics using stochastic analysis. Presently available procedures to describe uncertainties in load and resistance within a suitable mathematical framework are shortly addressed. Monte Carlo methods are proposed for studying the variability in the structural properties and for their propaga...

Analysis and design of structural systems always requires the treatment of uncertainties by using statistical and probabilistic concepts so this can be done in a rational way. It is shown that traditional, deterministic concepts can be easily extended to account for uncertainties. The so-called Monte Carlo Simulation procedures are the key for these developments. By this method, deterministic m...

The Monte Carlo method – which based on the game of chance – was named after the famous Casino of Monte Carlo in Monaco. It was developed in the early fourtieth of the last century. For solving the so-called random neutron transport problems, i.e. diffusion in fissile materials. Already at an early stage of these investigations, the direct simulation was refined with certain variance – reducing...

The inherent uncertainties in geometry, material properties, etc. of engineering structures can be represented by stochastic models, where the parameters are described by probabilistic laws. Results from any analysis based on stochastic models inherit probabilistic information as well, which can be used e.g. for reliability analysis. Particularly in linear dynamics of structures the calculation...
متن کاملSTRUCTURAL RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT UTILIZING FOUR METAHEURISTIC ALGORITHMS
The failure probability of the structures is one of the challenging problems in structural engineering. To obtain the reliability index introduced by Hasofer and Lind, one needs to solve a nonlinear equality constrained optimization problem. In this study, four of the most recent metaheuristic algorithms are utilized for finding the design point and the failure probability of problems with cont...
